Department
of Surgery :: Research Programs
Welcome
The Department of Surgery has long invested in its basic and translational
researchers. They are working on a rich variety of projects addressing
the basic mechanisms as well as therapeutic breakthroughs in their
fields. With current research expenditures totaling $6 million in
FY2004, the department has ranked +/- 20th in NIH rankings in recent
years.
Our basic scientists devote full time to research and teaching.
Our translational scientists combine commitments to active research
programs that link to their clinical practice. The Research Programs
are divided into following groups:
•
Cancer and Metastasis
•
Cardiothoracic and Vascular
•
Epithelial Pathobiology
•
Immunology and Inflammation
•
Tissue Biology, Bioengineering and
Imaging |
